Hurricane Isaias made landfall on Friday along the US Gulf Coast as a Category 2 storm with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph, bringing heavy rain, flooding and life-threatening storm surges to the Gulf Coast. The first hurricane of the Atlantic season weakened just below major hurricane status before striking, battering communities in Alabama and the Florida Panhandle with damaging winds.
