Our verdict
The GMKtec EVO-X3 is an exceptionally fast compact PC for demanding creative work. Its large shared memory offers plenty of space for local AI models. The Radeon 8060S handles many games in Full HD, and in WQHD with adjusted detail settings. The cooling system keeps performance stable, and the computer remains quiet in everyday use. Two SSD slots and OCuLink provide scope for future upgrades. However, given the high price, the single USB-C port and the soldered-in RAM are all the more frustrating.

The GMKtec M8 handled my writing routine and lighter gaming comfortably. Its simplicity also reminded me of the computer younger me would have wanted.
