Beef prices stay stubbornly high as cattle shortage hits Texas barbecue
A small-town Texas barbecue joint has pulled brisket from its everyday menu, a sign of how costly beef has become for restaurants and shoppers.
According to the USDA's Economic Research Service, beef and veal prices were 5.9% higher in August 2026 than in August 2025.
