Australian lawmaker Helen Haines has had both legs amputated after being struck by an SUV in her hometown of Wangaratta, her husband, Phil Haines, confirmed on Wednesday. The 65-year-old independent MP is in stable condition at a Melbourne hospital, while a 43-year-old man has been charged over the incident.
